Health Check Guideline

Please do not wear Contact lens

Fasting for Laboratory Examination

  • No drinking and eating for six to eight hours prior to examination. 

 

Pap Smear Test (Female Only) 

  • Avoid intravaginal drugs for one week prior to examination. 

  • Avoid douching and sexual intercourse for one day prior to
        examination. 

  • It should not be done during menstrual period.

  • Dress yourself in casual clothing. 

 

Urine Test (Female Only)

  • It should not be done during menstrual period.

 

Ultrasound of Pelvis / Prostate / Flow Rate

  • Drink a lot of water until you have full bladder thirty minutes prior to
        examination.

  • Drink a lot of water until you have full bladder thirty minutes prior to
        examination. 

 

Ultrasound of Upper Abdomen 

  • Fasting for six to eight hours prior to examination.

 

Ultrasound of whole Abdomen

  • Fasting for six hours prior to examination.

  • Drink a lot of water until you have full bladder thirty minutes prior to
        examination. 

 

Mammography

  • Avoid any deodorant lotion and powder prior to examination.

 

X-Ray / Contrast Studies / Computed Tomography / PET-CT / MRI

  • Please inform our staff with confirmed / suspected Pregnancy.

 

Intravenous Urography

  • Fasting for four hours prior to examination.

  • Must empty bladder before examination.

  • Please inform our staff if you have asthma, diabetes mellitus or other
        allergies.

  • For diabetes patient requiring medication, please consult the referral
        clinician and inform our staff for the adjustment of insulin dosage and
        Metformin if necessary.

 

Computed Tomography

  • Contrast / Abdomen Scan – Fasting for six to eight hours prior to
        examination.

  • Please inform our staff if you have asthma, diabetes mellitus or other
        allergies.

  • Abdomen Scan – Oral contrast (provided by our centre) may be 
        required for certain examinations, please consult our staff in the centre
        if you have any problems.

  • For diabetes patient requiring medication, please consult the referral
        clinician concerned for the adjustment of insulin dosage and
        Metformin if necessary.

 

Treadmill Exercise ECG

  • Dress yourself in casual clothing, preferably in sports wear and
        running shoes.

  • Do not apply lotions, oils or powders to the chest area.

  • Do not eat too much prior to examination.

  • Please inform our staff when booking appointment if you are under
        anyregular medications.


Urodynamic studies

  • All sedatives, cholinergics and anticholinergics should be
        discontinued as doctor's order procedure.

  • Empty bowel or use laxatives as required.

 

Cystoscopy

  • Light breakfast or snack is allowed on the examination day.

  • Due to sedation effect, it is essential to have someone to accompany
        you home and not to drive or operate any machinery after the
        examination.

  • You are advised not to have any make up or nail polish for it may
        interfere our medical observations.

 

Gastroscopy

  • Patient should keep fasting for six hours before the examination.

  • Due to sedation effect, it is essential to have someone to accompany
        you home and not to drive or operate any machinery after the
        examination.

  • Please register at our clinic 15 mins prior to the examination.

  • You are advised not to have any make up or nail polish for it may
        interfere our medical abservations.

 

Colonoscopy

  • Notes before Colonoscopy:

  • Four days before examination, all drugs containing iron and cellulose,
        such as Metamucil etc. should be discontinued.

  • One day before examination, liquid diet only. For example: soap,
        congee, soy milk etc.

  • For the diabetic patients, please do not taking hypoglycemic drugs and
        insulin injections on the test day.

  • Please consult your doctor before the examination regarding about
        method of taking oral laxative

  • Notes after Colonoscopy:

  • Due to sedation effect, it is essential to have someone to accompany
        you home after the examination. 

 

Note: Please bring your previous films and report for reference.

Blood pressure

Blood pressure is the pressure of blood against the walls of the main arteries.

Blood pressure is highest during systole, when the ventricles are contract, 
normal should be <140mmHg.

Blood pressure is lowest during diastole, when the ventricles are relaxing and 
refilling, normal should be<90mmHg.

 

Prevent Hypertension
 

  • No smoking

  • Have a balance diet

  • Eat low fat foods

  • Reduce sodium intake

  • Limit alcohol intake to two drinks or less per day

  • Exercise regularly

  • Maintain your body weight

  • Rest more and avoid nervousness

  • Have a health check per year

Body Mass Index (BMI)

Urine test and stool test are basic tests of body check. When having urine test or stool test, testee will need to urinate or defecate on a container as sample before the test, and bring the sample to the doctor after finish. Stool test can find out the status of testee’s colon while urine test can tell if testee have any urological system diseases.

Urinalysis

Urine test objects include glucose, protein, red blood and white blood cell.

Urine test is to detect diabetes, renal disease, urinary tract infection

Uroflowmery

Maximum Flow rate

The Maximum flow rate test is one of the procedures of Urine Flow Test, whichis also know as Uroflowmetry.The Maximum flow rate for yound adult shoud beabove 30ml/sec. The rate should decrease with ago. If the Maximum flow rate below 10ml/sec, the person may suffer from bladder outlet obstruction. The most commoncause of bladder outlet obstruction is benign prostate hypertrophy.

 

Residual Urine

Residual urine test is another procedure of Urine Flow Test. After voiding, bladder should be completely empty. If the residual urine above 50ml, it could be due to bladder outlet obstruction of bladder function abnormality. Early investigation and treatment is necessary.
